Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery encompasses surgical procedures to treat the central, peripheral nervous system, spinal column disease, and neurological injuries benefiting from mechanical intervention.  The central nervous system involves the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system involves somatic nerves that move, coordinate, and channel information and autonomic nerves that control automatic function.  Spinal column disease can involve the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae.

Common conditions treated and procedures performed by our neurologist and Dr. Kern include:

*  Intervertebral disc herniation

*  Vertebral fractures or luxations

*  Spinal tumors

*  Spinal trauma

*  Herniated discs

*  Nerve root compresson

*  Hernilaminectomy

*  Dorsal laminectomy

*  Spinal fusion

*  Spinal subluxations and instability
